KENNERLY CLAY President and Senior Writer "Eclectic" best describes the background of founding partner KENNERLY CLAY who started her career in New York City with a degree in fashion merchandising, marketing and management. She later went on to receive her BA in English with Writing Emphasis at the University of San Francisco. She has worked in the magazine publishing industry, from advertising and editorial to promotions and distribution for Hearst Magazines. She also brings experience in public relations and writing grant proposals for non-profits. Here in Philadelphia she worked as a technical writer for PricewaterhouseCoopers and later as a web content developer at Xlibris, a print-on-demand book publishing firm. After one layoff too many, Eclectic Content was - gratefully - born in February 2001. Kennerly has an international perspective informed by three years of teaching English in Japan and traveling extensively throughout Asia, the South Pacific, Central America and Europe. She regularly contributes travel content to magazines, newspapers and websites. SUSAN MATTHEWS Copywriter SUSAN MATTHEWS brings years of eclectic experience in writing, public relations, advertising, marketing and design for a diversity of industries including healthcare and pharmaceuticals. As a published writer, Susan has won many national and local awards, including a Philadelphia Press Award. Her articles have appeared in Glamour, Success, Philadelphia Style, The Philadelphia Inquirer, and many other major publications. Susan received her BA in Communications from Temple University. MEGAN PADILLA Travel Communications Specialist Our New York City rep, MEGAN PADILLA, melds her passion for travel with her keen marketing know-how to offer the highest level of travel communications services to EC clients. She provides editorial coverage of worldwide destinations and her work appears regularly in magazines and newspapers. Megan stays well-informed by constantly surveying the publishing market, staying apprised of PR firms’ client bases, and by attending tourism tradeshows across the U.S. She also attends the World Travel Market in London. Megan’s degree is in arts administration with a focus on communications and audience-building. She has planned and implemented direct marketing and publicity campaigns for professional ballet and theater companies in the U.S. and Canada. MIRANDA SPENCER Ghostwriter/Editor MIRANDA SPENCER offers a nose for news, an ear for language, and an eye for detail gleaned from 20+ years of eclectic publishing experience. After earning a B.A. in English from Bard College, she began her career as a trade book copywriter for Prentice-Hall, Inc. Jumping to journalism, she studied under a fellowship at NYU and has since combined writing for consumer, trade, alternative, and regional periodicals with stints on the staffs of The Nation and Biography magazines. As a consultant, she’s helped authors perfect their manuscripts, academics polish their prose, nonprofits publish their journals, and more. MELISSA ANTONELLI Editorial Assistant She started as an intern and soon became a hired hand at EC. MELISSA ANTONELLI helps the business run smoothly while learning the valuable skills needed to become a professional writer. Among other things, she came up with our fabulous new tagline: "Where words speak louder." (Go Melissa!) A Florida native, Melissa moved to Philadelphia to enjoy city life and pursue a BA degree in English from Penn State Abington. She recently graduated with honors and is planning to pursue a Master's degree in Journalism at Columbia University in New York. KIRK PHILLIPS Business Advisor and Financial Writer Partner KIRK PHILLIPS, the business advisory and tax genius behind Eclectic Content, is a talented Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Certified Management Accountant (CMA) and Certified Financial Manager (CFM) with a diversified business background. When he's not masterminding for Eclectic Content, Kirk works for RSM McGladrey, Inc. and McGladrey & Pullen, LLP.
